Services
The vaccine is live containing weakened virus. Two doses of the vaccine provides 98% protection in children and 75% protection in adults against Chickenpox infection. In both groups, if breakthrough infection does occur, it is much milder and of a shorter duration than in those who have never been vaccinated.
Since July 2016, the yellow fever vaccine certificate is also valid for “the life of the traveller”.

The combined vaccine is give in the UK childhood programme with pertussis (whooping cough) at age 2 months, 3 months and 4 months. Further booster doses are given at 3-5 years of age and again at 14 years of age.
The tick borne encephalitis vaccine is between 98-99% effective against the European strains and is also thought to be as effective against other strains. It is an inactivated vaccine containing dead virus.
If there is insufficient time prior to travel to complete all three doses, a rapid schedule can be used. The schedule for this is:
Dose 1-day 0
Dose 2-14 days after 1st dose
Dose 3-5 to 12 months after 2nd dose.
The vaccine is also recommended for anyone at risk through their occupation, such as healthcare workers or their lifestyle, such as men who have sex with men.
The first dose should be given ideally 2 weeks before travel to the risk area.2nd dose should be given ideally 6-12 months after first.
The 2nd dose can be given up to 3 years after the 1st dose.
The new HPV Vaccine provides immunity to 9 sub-types of HPV including 7 high risk strains. The previous 4 valent version provided coverage against sub-types 6,11, 16 and 18.
The following 7 High Risk HPV sub-types are contained within the vaccination, HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58, which are found in the majority of HPV associated cancers.
The vaccine also provides protection against the commonest HPV strains causing warts-strains 6 and 11.
Women and Men from 15-45 years of age Intramuscular injection to the deltoid.
3 doses 2nd dose administered 2 months after the first and 3rd dose administered 6 months after the 1st dose.
Girls and Boys 9-14 years of age Intramuscular injection to the deltoid.
2 doses 2nd dose administered 6 to 12 months after 1st dose.
HPV Vaccine (Gardasil 9 ) £185 per dose, 3 doses
The vaccine is inactivated, which means it does not contain any live components of the bacteria and thus, cannot cause active disease in those vaccinated.
Inclusions
The vaccine can be given to anyone from 2 months of age until 50 years of age to provide protection against the majority of meningitis B infections.
Because the illness is easily transmitted through air, MMR immunity is necessary for certain jobs.
Inclusions
The whooping cough vaccination can be given to clients over ten years old and :
To pregnant clients to protect their new-born babies from whooping cough
To individuals who had contact with others who have the condition and had their last vaccination more than five years ago.
Boosting may be needed for work in the USA or Australia or when residing in these countries long term.
For travellers to areas with a recent outbreak of whooping cough and who had their previous dose of the vaccination more than ten years ago.
For those who have had the whooping cough vaccination more than 10 years ago and are often in close contact with young children or pregnant women.
The vaccine is administered as a booster dose only for individuals who have had the full course of 3 doses of the vaccine during childhood or had prior infection with whooping cough.
It is a single booster dose, which confers immunity for approximately 10 yrs.
Booster Doses
Further doses of the vaccine can be given at 10 years if required. It is given intramuscularly.
Meningitis ACWY vaccine is an inactivated vaccine that protects against 4 strains of the meningitis bacteria-A, C, W and Y. Prior to 2015, the vaccine was mainly given to travellers to the meningitis belt of Africa and was a mandatory requirement for all pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. However, following an outbreak of Meningitis W, the vaccine was introduced into the UK childhood immunisation programme and is given at 14 years of age.
Inclusions
The vaccine can be given to anyone from birth onward* for the following reasons:
As an entry requirement to Saudi Arabia for all pilgrims (Hajj/Umrah)
Travel to Meningitis belt of Africa during outbreaks, especially if the itinerary involves close and prolonged contacts with locals in overcrowded settings, such as schools, hospitals, workplaces.
*Department of Health guidance states that Menveo can be used from birth as there is safety and effectiveness data available for this vaccine.
Additionally, the vaccine is recommended for
Anyone at risk of meningitis W through college or university entry-Public health England advice that anyone aged up to 25 who is starting university should get vaccinated.
This is currently the most effective vaccine available against shingles and unlike the Zostavax, there is no reduction in effectiveness of the vaccine with age.
Inclusion
The vaccine is indicated for all individuals over the age of 50 years to prevent shingles infection. It works by boosting the body’s own natural immunity to the virus that causes the infection (Varicella Zoster).
